Tram Roma Serie 9000 ‘socimi’
Tram Roma Serie 9000 ‘socimi’
The 9000 series trams are directly derived from Milan’s “Socimino” prototypes and were delivered to the capital starting in the 90s. These cars represent the first type of bidirectional tram in use in Rome: in 1998 they were entirely assigned to line 8 (the first line of the capital to be bidirectional).
Currently, all units are in use on lines 5, 14, and 19.
The tram is of the low-floor type. The initial project had to include a classic “Giostra Urbinati” in the central articulation, later replaced by a small module supported by a very small bogie.
