British Rail Class 33 Diesel Locomotive.
Class 33 was designed specifically for use in the southern region of the UK. A total of 98 of the class were ordered by British Rail with the first delivered in 1960. The class operated both passenger and freight services, primarily within the southern and western regions. Withdrawal of the class began in 1988. With privatisation in 1998, 40 passed to EWS. Subsequently, members of the class have been operated by Fragonset, DRS, and West Coast Rail. Today a few examples are operated on the mainline by WCR whilst 24 have been preserved.
