Central do Brasil: Gold Rush
Central do Brasil: Gold Rush
The story
It’s gold rush in Brazil! Large quantities of gold were found near Ouro Preto in the state of Minas Gerais, not far from Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil at that time. Therefore Ouro Preto, which means ‘black gold’ in Portuguese, became the capital city of Minas Gerais and one of the wealthiest cities in South America. Due to the lack of good infrastructure, transporting the gold to the ocean happened mostly by foot, using the so-called ‘gold trails’ through the mountainous terrain. Building a decent transport connection between the two capitals would really boost the economy of the region. Are you up to the challenge?
The map
This is a small 1:3 map. It includes 7 cities and 3 supply chains (food, machines, and of course gold). The map was hand painted and all cities and industries were placed carefully and manually. A mod was specially made for this map to give it a nice Brazilian vibe. Hope you enjoy it!
The mod
The mod is required for the “Central do Brasil: Gold Rush” map. It includes a range of objects, assets, and scripts to make the map a little bit more Brazilian. It includes the following:
Brazilian music is (bossanova and samba) added to the game.
Brazilian street- and person names
New cargo types:
Gold
Livestock
A script that adds a new cargo type to all vehicles in the game that can carry a specific existing cargo type. For example, all vehicles that can carry coal, can also carry gold.
New industries:
Meat farm (makes livestock)
Port, for exporting gold.
Port, for importing coal.
Food factory (needs livestock and makes food)
Gold mine (makes gold)
New texture: River. The map has the ocean, but I also wanted to add rivers to the rest of the map. However, that part of the map has a much higher altitude. I therefore added the rivers as texture; so they are just esthetical.
Passenger station buildings are repainted in a more Brazilian style.
Rails got a more yellow, grassy texture to fit better in the landscape
