DRG/DB Class 24
DRG/DB Class 24
The class 24 locomotives were standard passenger locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. From 1925 onwards, the Deutsche Reichsbahn had a need for locomotives for branch lines and in order to increase economic efficiency, value was placed on the extensive interchangeability of parts. Therefore BR 24 and 64 were largely identical in construction. On the level, the machines could haul a 350-tonne train at 90 km/h.
The Deutsche Bundesbahn took over 47 locomotives, the last of which was taken out of service in 1966.
