Burlington Northern and their E8
At the formation of Burlington Northern from their previous companies Chicago, Burlington and Quincy, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Spokane, Portland, and Seattle Railway, it was just at the tail-end of the private American passenger network. They offered passenger service shortly before the formation of Amtrak, in which they handed over their long-distance passenger service to them.
However, with that said they did continue commuter service with Metra in the Chicago area, typically seen with Gallery Cars.
In ’92, some of the commuter service E8s were sold to MARC in the Baltimore area.
