JNR Electric Locomotive Type EF13
JNR Electric Locomotive Type EF13
The EF13 was manufactured during World War II as a wartime design to increase the number of electric locomotives with the same performance as the EF12, which boasted excellent performance at the time, but with thorough material savings.
As a result of saving materials, the locomotive was completed with thin steel plates and a convex shape.
Because of its wartime design, the locomotive was modified twice after the war, and the body was replaced with that of the EF58 about 10 years after the war, so the specifications of the convex body were short-lived.
