New York Central Freight Erie Builts
New York Central Freight Erie Builts
Welcome to New York Central, Erie-Builts. After 1 year in development, hopefully, it will have been worth the wait.

The Erie-built was the first streamlined, cab-equipped dual-service diesel locomotive built by Fairbanks-Morse, introduced as direct competition to such models as the ALCO PA and FA, and EMD FT. The Erie-Builts soon ran into problems with the OP engine that had not been experienced in Navy service. Owing to the inferior reliability and higher maintenance costs, most Erie-builts were sidelined or repowered with EMD 567s by 1960. Scapping started in January of 1962, and all were gone by mid-1963.
