SAGAMI RAILWAY 5000 series
Sagami Railway’s first in-house developed, high-performance train appeared in 1955, bringing a breath of fresh air to Sagami Railway, which used to have only older cars.
It was the first train in Japan to adopt a body-mounted structure for regular trains, and its monocoque structure was highly effective for lightweight, with a dead weight of 27 to 29 tons.
