The Midland Railway, part owners of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, were the lads in charge of the locomotives.
They designed a 2-8-0, a huge locomotive for 1914, to operate the line and handle the hills.
Painted in handsome royal blue and gold lining, these engines worked alongside Fowler 4Fs, LMS 2Ps, Black 5s, and BR Standards.
These locomotives had a fantastically long life, lasting all the way to 1964, a good 50 years after they were built.
