Series 300 Train
In 1990, it was introduced as a train for the new “Nozomi” train, replacing the Series 0 and other trains. From then on, this became the standard for the Tokaido Shinkansen in terms of livery, passenger facilities, etc., and was carried over to the succeeding Series 700 and N700 trains. It was introduced in large numbers by JR Tokai and JR West, but all the cars were retired by 2012.

Series 500 train
In 1996, the 500 Series Shinkansen, originally developed by JR West as part of its efforts to strengthen its competitiveness against airplanes, was introduced as “Nozomi” and became very popular, but due to differences in specifications with other cars on the Tokaido Shinkansen, it was withdrawn from this section in 2010, and is currently in operation as “Kodama” on the Sanyo Shinkansen.
