Russian class E (Э) is a Russian and Soviet cargo locomotive, the most mass-produced steam locomotive in the world. From 1912 to 1957 there were built almost 11.000 locomotives, with a few modernizations.
E-class locomotives were the main Soviet locomotives during World War II. Thanks to their simple and robust design, as well as their powerful and high speed, they successfully worked on front-line territories.
