Burlington Northern Railway was the formation of multiple Class I’s, Great Northern Railway, CBQ, Northern Pacific, and Spokane, Seattle & Washington. One of the largest mergers of its time, it dominated the Northwest as the largest Class I in the region. Today, BNSF is the result of its merger with ATSF (which probably shouldn’t have happened, but that’s another matter…)
