FS UIC-Z1 semipilota
The UIC-Z1 pilot carriage was obtained, starting from 1996, by transforming a batch of UIC-Z1 carriages, installing a driver’s cab at one end to allow its use in remote control (and, therefore, reversible intercity trains ).
The first order of this type of waggons was not very successful due to the poor reliability of the remote control itself.
Thanks to visionary studies and the development of railway technology, after “only” 20 years (2017) the second order of these unfortunate cars was delivered: the UIC-Z1A. The driving coach is finally working as it should.
