IMPORTANT! Please note, that this is intended to replace my earlier British Wagons/Brake Vans mod and is therefore incompatible. Please be sure to remove the previous versions from your save games when adding this mod. I just chose to leave the previous mods up in case some decisions made with this version of the mod weren’t to everyone’s liking.

This series of freight wagons is intended to be representative of some types of freight wagons common on UK railway networks throughout the age of steam. All versions of the wagon can carry all types of freight, allowing you to mix and match wagons to create a more irregular-looking train to better reflect the look of UK freight and goods trains.

What’s different from the previous version?
All the cargo wagon meshes have been completely overhauled and updated. They’re also generally a little more narrow than the old version and tend to ‘fit in’ better with both my UK steam engines and stuff like JK’s GWR and British wagons.

I’ve also gone through and updated the cargo loads to fit the new dimensions, and the covered wagons will now fill with cargo that looks like it can actually fit through the doors.

The textures have been updated slightly and generally age and tint a little better. The materials files are a little more consistent, too, so you’ll see fewer oddities from one variant to the next.

I’ve added a new wagon type – a rectangular tank wagon for all of your oil and liquid needs. This comes with the usual aging and tinting options, and a placeable asset has been added to the existing asset menu. I understand that giving it every cargo type might seem a bit weird to some, but….well, this is a generic set intended for mixing and matching purposes, so if you don’t think it makes sense to use it in a certain train, then….don’t.

I’ll be looking to add a couple more brake van variants to this mod, and maybe some other specialized wagons. Definitely open to suggestions.

I’ve also added my ‘More Even Grain/ore Loads’ as a dependency this time around – it’s not ‘required’, but there will be some visual bugs with transporting grain or ore without it due to the shape of the vanilla mesh. It’s a small mod that changes very little, but trusts me when I say the visual difference is worth it.
