It is the only 8-axle locomotive built by Japan National Railways and one of the largest electric locomotives in the history of Japan National Railways. It was nicknamed “Mammoth” because of its huge size.
The EH10 locomotive was optimized and replaced with the PS22 panto graph at the end of its service life, and the EH10 was also used as the first locomotive in the JNR’s “Mammoth” fleet.
