JNR Series 50 Coach/Baggage car
JNR Series 50 Coach/Baggage car
The Japanese National Railways (JNR) Series 50 passenger/Baggage car are manufactured by the Japan National Railways since 1977. These cars were built to replace the aging coaches built in the pre-war period through the 1950s. However, the number of coaches rapidly decreased in less than 20 years due to the trend of replacing coaches with electric and diesel trains in Japan, and in 2002, they were withdrawn from regular service, and only a few of them are currently used as tourist trains after being converted.
