Nankai-Railway Type-2001 Electric Train ‘large type’
In order to compete with the Hanwa Electric Railway, a parallel line with Nankai Main Line,
Nankai built a monster train that could outperform the Hanwa, despite its worse infrastructure.
Despite its infrastructure being worse than that of the Hanwa Electric Railway, it was a monster train from Nankai.
It boasts of high output power from its four 150kW motors, and was used for express and other priority trains,
and was also used as a traction engine for passenger coaches, instead of electric locomotives.
It should be noted that it was the first commercial air-conditioned car in Japan.
This was one of the countermeasures against Hanwa Electric Railway, and it provided high-quality service.
However, due to their extreme performance, they were unable to cope with the change in voltage from 600V to 1500V.
So all cars were retired until 1970. There are no preserved cars.
