NS DH-2 (Wadloper)
NS DH-2 (Wadloper)
Wadloper (railway material) The DH-2 and DH-1 (better known as Wadloper) are Diesel Hydraulic train sets, built between 1981 and 1983 by Waggonfabrik Uerdingen AG for the Northern Side Lines in Groningen and Friesland. The Wadloper series consisted of 19 motor vehicles (DH1) and 31 two-piece trains (DH2). Simplification of exploitation of the northern secondary lines In the early 1970s, the Dutch Railways (NS) thought about replacing the Blue Angels, which also served on the Northern secondary lines around Groningen and Leeuwarden. These train sets had, compared to steam traction, cheaper operation with which more unprofitable lines could be prevented from closing. The question arose whether it was possible to operate the northern lines even easier, and therefore cheaper, and which equipment would be suitable for this. The Plan U train sets were also replaced here.
The mod includes 4 liveries, Arriva (1981), Wadfieter (1996), NordNed (1999), Veolia (2007).
