Vanilla Wagon Speed Variants
Vanilla Wagon Speed Variants
Have you ever unlocked a fast locomotive and then had to wait a decade until the wagons could match its top speed?
With this mod, each vanilla wagon (freight or passenger) comes in 4 variants.
Local (slowest)
Regional (slow)
National (fast)
Express (fastest)
The variants are visually identical but have different top speeds (and purchase and running costs, since these are scaled automatically with vehicle specs). For freight cars, for example, the speeds are 40/50/60/70 km/h in 1850, 70/80/90/100 km/h in 1900, 100/110/120/130 km/h in 1950, and 130/140/150/160 km/h in 2000.
The top speeds are set so that it’s always possible to pick a variant with the vanilla top speed, but which variant that is depends on the wagon. For example,
For the 1850 European passenger car, the “Local” variant gives the vanilla speed of 40 km/h
For the Heavyweight Parlour car, the “Express” variant gives the vanilla speed of 180 km/h
The top speeds are also set to try and ensure that you can run your locomotives at top speed as soon as they are unlocked (although in the late game, freight wagon speeds are capped below locomotive speeds).
