Hz 1142 ‘Brena’
HŽ series 1142 (original numbering JŽ 442, nicknames Brena, Tiristorka) is an electric locomotive of the Croatian Railways for the 25 kV 50 Hz power supply system.
The locomotives were built between 1981 and 1989 by the company Rade Končar for the needs of the then Yugoslav Railways.
This is the first electric locomotive that was fully developed and manufactured in the former Yugoslavia.
The 1142 series locomotives are the most powerful electric locomotives owned by Croatian Railways.
All locomotives of the HŽ 1142 series are owned by HŽ Putnički prijevoz and are used exclusively for towing passenger trains.
Only 16 locomotives were produced.
