JNR Series381 EMU
The JNR Series 381 train is a limited express train introduced in 1973. It is known as Japan’s first car-tilting train for commercial use, and it contributed to speeding up local train routes.
Half a century has passed since its appearance. Although it has already been retired from limited express trains Shinano and Kuroshio, it can still be seen on limited express Yakumo trains. However, it is scheduled to be replaced in 2024 with the arrival of the new Series 273 train.
